	Perfect Vinaigrettes: Appetizers to Desserts

	-

by Linda Dannenberg, Zeva Oelbaum (Photographer) / Hardcover - 112 pages
	 -

	  List Price: $19.95 ~ Your Price: $13.96 ~ Used Price: $12.50
	 -

Tossed with salad greens, drizzled over poached fish, pooled around a nest
of steamed vegetables, marinating a rib roast, or glossing a plateful of
sliced potatoes, vinaigrette sauces - when properly created - jazz up the
most elementary foods. The making of a good vinaigrette is an elusive art,
even for accomplished home cooks. "Perfect Vinaigrette"s unveils the mystery
	  of making a fabulous dressing.
	    -

	  -

The book's 60 recipes range from the most fundamental and familiar - oil
and vinegar, or lemon and cream- to more complex concoctions: Herbed Lemon-Caper
Sauce for grilled veal; Orange Vinaigrette for barbecued pork; Olive, Herb
and Tomato Vinaigrette for grilled sea bass; Earl-Grey Tea Vinaigrette for
a watermelon-Roquefort salad; Raspberry-Orange Vinaigrette for an elegant
wild rice salad. Nestled among them are tantalizing creations by renowned
chefs, such as Ariane Daguin's Gascony Vinaigrette, to be served with a duck
salad; Andr Soltner's tangy Lutece Vinaigrette, with a hint of onion and
Tabasco; and three-star chef Pierre Gagnaire's Fruited Eggplant Vinaigrette
	  for prawns or lobster tails.

Living Foods for Optimum Health: Staying Healthy in an Unhealthy World

This book advocates a diet primarily of "fresh, organic, uncooked, unrefined
foods". Written in conjunction with the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida,
which has been known to help cancer patients into remission through diet,
this book takes a slightly scare-tactic approach, citing a few too many
frightening health statistics, but it does give more than 100 recipes and
a week's worth of sample menus. For anyone truly dedicated to living the
whole-foods way (or interested in a cleansing weekend of living foods), this
book is a solid, encouraging guide.

Reviewer: Revvell P. Revati, N.H.E. from Glendale, California - If you're
looking for a good, all-purpose book, I highly recommend "The Raw Gourmet"
by Nomi Shannon. Whether you're looking to incorporate more fruits
and vegetables into your food program, are transitioning into becoming vegetarian
or interested in accessing the power of living foods, this is THE book for
you. It's got great photos, sections on preparing a meal in 20 minutes,
breakfast, juices and blended drinks, soups, sauces, dressings, entrees and
desserts. There is a section on sprouting, one on food combining, a 3-week
menu plan; special occasion menu suggestions, sources and grocery guide.

Reviewer: Donnetta Vogel from California - This book has beautiful pictures,
interesting recipes of salads, juices and sauces, and helpful information
on just about everything you need to know about raw food. It is a great book
for someone looking for recipes on salads, juices and sauces. However, I
was looking for raw recipes that would be similar to traditional main courses,
because I need help in that area. I don't have a problem making delicious
salad type meals and juices, but have a difficult time with preparing a main
dish that has a traditional "look". This is a wonderful book, but it wasn't
	  what I was looking for.

Reviewer: Susan McCoy from Marietta, GA - I love this book! The pictures
are absolutely beautiful and Nomi does an incredibly great job of talking
to you throughout the preparation instructions. Her wondeful creativity allows
someone without food genius, like me, to just follow the directions and come
up with a masterpiece creation that even my standard American diet husband
	  loves.
